StudioDNA's 4th Annual Spring Showcase and Dance Party May 17th, 2009
We had a GREAT performance evening with 10 Showcase dances! Our lesson for the evening was Quickstep and everyone seemed to understand the basics and dance them! We were very happy to have Sharon and Amanda show us a Ballet piece that Sharon has been preparing. This was our first Ballet demonstration here at StudioDNA.
Preparing for this Showcase was quite an ordeal for many of us. This time of year there are so many things going on. We had a Competition in April and many functions here at the studio since the beginning of April that have taken our time and energy away from the Showcase preparation. Sonja was to dance a Tango and had to cancel the day of because of an illness in the family. Robin and Rainier as well had to cancel due to a family issue. So, we were a couple of Showcases down, especially from dancers that really thrill us! That's okay! We have them set and ready to go for our next Showcase in August! Won't you join us then!
Liza did a fantastic job as DJ, Emcee, and Hostess for the Show. A special thanks to David for his tech support and video & photography work. John & Michelle are very pleased with everyone's time and energy that went into this production. Nice dancing and crowd pleasing good fun was achieved! YES!!!!
1st Set: Andrea & John danced a passionate & strong Rumba. Karl & Michelle graced the floor with a breath taking Waltz. Beth & John showed off their fancy footwork to pop R&B Cha Cha. Amanda & Sharon performed a graceful Ballet duet. Andrea & Randy Tangoed to a driving beat that was sharp, tight, and fierce! Michelle & John danced an exiting Triple Swing to "Do You Love Me".
2nd Set: Sue & John captured the crowd with "New York, New York" by dancing a timeless Foxtrot! Michelle & Matt turned out a fast paced Tango & Rumba combination. Lois & John's Rumba/Bolero combination was very soft and sensual. Sharon ended the show with a Ballet Pointe solo to "Ave Maria" that was lovely!
